August 17, 2008

Hi there...I just wanted to share a new picture and tell you a few things. I've been in my foster home for 6 weeks and continue to learn. Here are some good things to tell you about:

I seem to be potty trained and haven't had an accident in 6 weeks (hooray)
I'm a great size (and pretty cute too :)
My house manners have improved greatly
I am crate trained (although this is not my favorite place to be)
I sit & stay before getting anything (I work for everything, although it is really fun for me)
I am good at the following basic commands: sit, stay, come, look, down
I love to be with my people, but it does take a little time for me to warm up
I enjoy the company of other dogs, but wouldn't mind being the only in your life
I really want to be in the house and air conditioning (it is just too darn hot here in Texas sometimes)
I am an alpha female and tend to get along with male dogs better than female dogs
I do not have any of those Puppy issues like chewing the wrong things
I am a laid back kinda gal, but I do like to play a good game of tug with you
I have a medium energy level
I am ready to play when you are, but also relax when asked
I have a low maintenance coat that is brushed weekly (I dont mind being brushed)
I really don't shed much
At the Meet & Greet events or outside, I've never had any issues with any people (children, men or women)
I'm working on my leash walking (it really isn't too bad)

Foster Mom says that I am a great little girl, but I'm not perfect (then again, who is?)
Here are some thing you should know about me:

I just don't like other dogs in my face, I need space, so I sometimes give a warning growl to let them know
Due to allergies I stay on a specific dog food - Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Fish
This dog food is found in most of the Pet stores, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, etc.
My treats/wet food are also this brand (wet food is put in my kong and frozen...yummy)
I seem to have a sensitive spot on my backend, so I don't like to be touched there sometimes
I can be stubborn sometimes (I'm just misunderstood...I'm independant)
Foster Mom thinks I would be best as an only dog or with a bigger male sibling
I sometimes like to growl at other dogs to tell them not to get my stuff (toys, bones)
I've not been exposed to cats, so I'm not sure about them

So there it is...everything is on the table...the bad, the good.

If you have any questions for my foster Mom, please email her at getdebby@gmail.com
She can tell you all about me. If you would like to fill out an application for me, please go to www.mixbreedrescue.com
I hope to hear from you soon. Until then...

Squeaky Bone Stealer...who me?

Hi there folks...My foster Mom caught me stealing the big squeaky bone from my doggy brother. I was trying to get out of there fast, but I got caught! I am soooo fast that they couldn't catch me. I hope that my forever family likes to play a lot.

I got a chance to play with a lot of new doggy friends at Taurus Training. Everyone loved me there. I did really well with the other dogs.

If you would like to meet me, I will be at the Meet & Greet event at the Petco at the Arboretum on August 9th and 16th. Hope to see you there. If you have an extra squeaky bone laying around, maybe you could bring it and play with me. Until then....

July 30, 2008...Some New Experiences

Hi there friends...I just wanted to let you know what has been going on in my world since I last wrote. I have really improved on my sit and stay at the back door before going potty. My foster Mom & Dad have us all sit and stay. Then they open the door real wide and we have to stay and not move. When they say "okay", then we run out the door as fast as we can. It is kind of fun to learn new things. I am trying to learn the same with my food, but it is so hard when I can't wait to eat. I do really good with the sit, but my stay needs improvement when I'm ready to eat. We are still working hard with that.

My family had an emergency and had to leave us in boarding for 5 days. We went this morning, and I was so excited to see a lot of new friends. I will let you know about all of the fun I had when I get back. My foster Mom says that this is a great experience for me to be around many different types of dog friends.

I hope you are doing well.
